'It becomes the boring sound of the same tone, while music is the art of unifying notes
of varying height and length: a fusion of opposites in a creation of captivating harmony.'

Changing Wor(l)ds
a passion for language

It wasn't just a stranger who came to my door one chilly winter's day several years ago: with the last thing on my mind came the inspiration for a sleeping poet to wake up, eager to come out and play; an unfamiliar version of me, waiting behind a previously invisible door to finally be discovered. Playfully, she would lead, and sometimes push me into the direction I now know I was meant to go: to offer a different perspective, a bigger picture ―to inspire change within and around us through the beauty and power of poetry. Words of Wonder

Within different styles and subjects, my poems carry a message of beauty, strength and or unity. In true love & connection (Emerald Heart ―poetry in love; revised and extended, 2023); within myself & the world around me (Still Waters Don't Run* ―a poetic journey), as well as for our human collective (Unity I Am ―poetics of oneness; extended 2023). For a chapbook contest for Spring 2023, I selected 30 pages from all of my poems I titled Echoes Of Silence, whispers from the eye of the storm.

'The key to living is not to be motivated into action,
but being driven by inspiration' ―Monique de Koning
(more of my quotes)

Whatever the subject, through observation, contemplation and compassion, and a critical eye when useful or necessary, there is always an invitation to a bigger picture that I think is so often lost or forgotten. Above all, it's my sincere wish my words can offer some hope and inspiration ―to be part of real positive change, like so many others who seek to do the same. Each in our own ways using our unique talents and gifts ―as warriors of light & truth; laborers of LOVE: the universal currency with the ability to ever grow & expand, and never loses its value.

"Your work and your voice is worthy and important"
Frontier Poetry (Chapbook Contest '22)

'How to see what we can't? To be
what we were not meant
to know but discover we already possess
and forever have: naturally skilled to impress
our gifts onto matters that positively affect
all of us.'
  ―from Behind A Turtle's Shell

Unity I Am offers a variety of poems that contemplate our global society as well as a message of unity, compassion and encouragement. A message that is not just welcome in all and the various ways this can be provided by as many people as possible, but much needed: now more than ever.

Through at times critical but mostly loving eyes, Unity I Am seeks to present a bigger picture to a world that seems so lost. To me, humanity is not so much lost but searching, evolving and realigning while immersed in chaos. Similar to that of a building going through major renovations and upgrades; however painful this process can be and unfortunately is.
'Shattered by millennia of lies and torture,
at last, on its way back to greatness ―while
stumbling over thick roots of destruction
the road to triumph infinitely blessed.'
from Quest For The Sun

your success in the future"
Andrews McMeel Publishing (2021)

Out of nowhere, in the
only way possible, there he was:
changing everything...

Are you a fan of romance and all things dreamy? I never was. Not because I wasn't into love or didn't know it: I have been in a wonderful 21-year relationship with a man who was the love of my life; really down to earth, I simply didn't have a romantic bone in my body. Then one chilly winter's day in 2016 ―single, but not looking for or even open to anything new while housebound ―a stranger in my doorway would change that and so much more. Barely in my life and for only a few months, he would become the inspiration for the poems in this intimate book about the life-changing journey of love I had no choice but to be on.
